Covid 19 Update 13/05/2020
RYA and British Marine have confirmed this morning that Government guidance have issued the following statement:
“All forms of water sports practised on open waterways, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, surfing, paddle-boarding and the use of privately-owned motorised craft (in line with the guidance issued by the relevant navigation authority) are allowed”
This follows the publication, earlier this week, of Government’s COVID-19 recovery strategy for England which provided key information regarding what the population can do away from their homes. This includes:
· As well as exercises, spending time outdoors
· Exercise outside as many times each day as people wish
· Driving to outdoor open spaces irrespective of distance
· Day trips to outdoor open space, in a private vehicle.
Putting the above statement into context, the outside space of the marina is open to boat owners and it is your choice if you take your boat out to sea, with our restricted dock gate opening times. Although you can arrange for an opening at night if you give two days’ notice. We will be lifting these restrictions once the risk assessment and social distancing signage will be in place.
At this present time the reception and amenity block will remain closed until we can operate a safe social distancing protocol to ensure you and the staff are safe.
Lifting operations will not commence until the finalisation of the amended lifting procedure, risk assessment and training has been implemented. We anticipate this to happen in June, where we will launch boats without the owner being involved. We will clarify the definite protocols on the 1st June.
The customer lounge / café will remain closed until further notice.
It should be noted that the government does not permit the population to leave their homes to ‘stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose’ this means that staying overnight on a boat must not happen.
This statement supersedes the COVID-19 statement issued on the 26th March 2020.
Take Care, Stay Safe and Stay Alert.
